Skipper Canteen is seated in the heart of Adventureland, just a few minute’s walk from its namesake attraction, The Jungle Cruise. The Jungle Cruise Skippers have appeared in various media related to the Jungle Cruise, such as books, comics, games, merchandise, and restaurants. They also have a prominent role in the 2021 live-action film Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson as Frank Wolff and Emily Blunt as Lily Houghton. The film features several skippers who help or hinder the main characters in their quest for the mythical Tree of Life. Some of these skippers are based on existing characters from the attractions, such as Trader Sam and Albert Awol. The food is adventurous and tasty, the service is playful, and we can’t help but LOVE every single Jungle Cruise-inspired detail.

Selection on the “yellow food” menu include Mac and Cheese, Chicken tenders, Pizza, Cheeseburgers, etc. The Jungle Skipper Canteen is no exception, with plenty for your young Skipper to choose from. The Kungaloosh, a classic Skipper dessert, features an African-inspired chocolate cake with caramelized bananas, cashew-caramel ice cream, and coffee dust.

” Here in Adventureland, you’ll get service with a PUN and a smile! And we hope you’ll be smiling in return, because not only will your host or wait staff give you the giggles, the menu will, too! The large outdoor (yet covered) waiting area boasts large rattan chairs and stained glass panels. Lush greenery surrounds the area, and overhead, a belt and cog fan system wafts the air. For a plant-based dish, this was FULL of flavor and so, so tasty! It wasn’t too spicy and we loved the crunch from the pumpkin seeds.

On the way in, you’ll spot several S.E.A. club fezzes on display in a glass case, which name checks those who attended secret meetings in the secret meeting room at Skippers Canteen. Then there’s the Jungle Cruise Room or Falls Family Parlor. As the second name suggests, this was the family parlor prior to conversion into a restaurant, and accordingly, it’s a more intimate location and features memorabilia culled from the Falls’ family archives. The Jungle Cruise restaurant features three different dining rooms.
This attraction was themed to being a training-service for future skippers run by the Jungle Expedition Skipper Training School. If you’re looking for something more unique and interesting, this is right up there with the Falls Family Falafel. I don’t think it’s nearly as good as the Veranda Fried Rice, but that’s comfort food and this is a bit more adventurous. Beyond the themed design and backstory, another fun aspect of Skipper Canteen is your server.
This cargo was scattered throughout the jungle due to a cargo plane mishap. The skippers are a broad group of characters from the Jungle Cruise. It was more elegant than the main dining room and was filled with a lot of detail. Although the books were props (I tried pulling one off the shelf to see if they were real), it was a nice touch and played to the restaurant's explorer theme. The noodle dish ($28) typically comes with crispy pork, but I swapped it out for tofu.
And there’s the once-secret meeting room of the Society of Adventurers and Explorers or S.E.A.. The story of the restaurant is that the granddaughter of the Jungle Cruise’s Dr. Albert Falls, Alberta Falls, took over the family business (That’s Jungle Navigation Co.!). You’ve heard of the Jungle Cruise, you’ve heard of the backside of water, but have you heard of Jungle Navigation Co. We’re bringing you a review from the punniest and most adventurous restaurant in Magic Kingdom. The skippers are the inspiration for Frank Wolff in this film.
But – it all comes down to luck and Cast Member pixie dust. Bad jokes and puns are part of a Disneyland job that has been immortalized in a new film. The Society of Explorers and Adventurers room features more display cases and a map of mythological creatures discovered by the members. The bookcase itself is a treasure trove of references and sly nods. Almost every single title (maybe all of them!) is an Easter Egg. Whether it be the title or the author, these books almost all relate to something at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, the international parks, S.E.A. or Imagineering.
This option could easily be a light entree for someone or great for sharing. Your host, server, and even food runners might have some fun bits and jokes for you. This dish is Char Siu-marinated Pork served with Seasonal Vegetables and Jasmine Rice and it was HUGE. This is a “secret recipe” of Chickpeas, Garlic, Onions, Lemon Juice, and Herbs served with House-made Edamame Hummus and Toasted Pumpkin Seeds. We’ve had lots of servers recommend the Falls Family Falafel in the past.
